BLESSING OF EASTER FOOD BASKETS
HOLY SATURDAY, APRIL 3, 2010

One of the most popular and fastest growing Easter customs in parishes across the United States is the BLESSING OF EASTER FOODS. After the long discipline and fast of Lent, people bring a portion of their Festive Easter Sunday meal to the church for a blessing. Some of the most popular items for blessing include: colored Easter eggs, Easter breads, Ham, Kielbasa and other meats, Cakes and Candies, etc. This Easter custom originated in many Polish families and is now practiced by many other ethnic groups today. Father Jim Sucholet will Bless Easter Food Baskets on Holy Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in St. Matthew Church. We invite YOU, your family members and friends to join us for the Blessing of Easter Foods. Join us! Hope to see YOU this year! Happy Easter to all!
